Modern Christianity has turned discipleship into classes, curriculum, and events. But Jesus defined discipleship with two words:
“Follow Me.”
Follow — meaning movement. Follow — meaning obedience. Follow — meaning surrender.
Discipleship Is Not Information
You can attend Bible studies and never obey the Bible. You can memorize Scripture and never submit to Scripture. You can know Christian language and never live a Christian life.
Discipleship is not information. It is transformation.
Discipleship Requires Three Things
Jesus repeated them constantly:
- Deny yourself
- Take up your cross
- Follow Me
This is not advanced Christianity. This is Christianity.
Discipleship Happens in the Ordinary
In your home. In your marriage. In your parenting. In your work. In your private life.
Discipleship is not something you attend. It is something you live.
A Call to Become a True Disciple
Jesus is not calling you to be a fan. He is calling you to be a follower.
A disciple who obeys Him daily. A disciple who walks the narrow road. A disciple who looks like her Teacher.
