Jesus’s Words Are Not Suggestions

We live in a time when the teachings of Jesus are often treated like inspirational quotes — something to admire, reflect on, or post online. But Jesus never spoke to be admired. He spoke to be obeyed.

His words are not suggestions. They are commands from the King.

Jesus Spoke With Absolute Authority

When Jesus taught, people were astonished — not because He was poetic, but because He spoke with authority.

He didn’t offer opinions, He didn’t offer options, He didn’t offer spiritual reflections.

He spoke as God.

John 14:23 says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.” Not admire it, not debate it. Not reinterpret it.

Keep it.

The Modern Church Has Softened Jesus

We preach the Jesus who comforts, but not the Jesus who commands. We preach the Jesus who welcomes, but not the Jesus who warns. And we preach the Jesus who saves, but not the Jesus who sanctifies.

But Jesus never divided Himself. He is Savior and Lord.

Obedience Is the Evidence of Love

Jesus did not say, “If you love Me, you will feel close to Me.” He said, “If you love Me, you will obey Me.”

Obedience is not legalism. Obedience is love.

A Call to Take Jesus Seriously Again

If we want to follow Jesus, we must take His words seriously — all of them.

Not just the comforting ones or the convenient ones. And not just the culturally acceptable ones.

His words are life, His words are truth. His words are the standard.
